Our first Harvest.
We finally have our first vegies ready to be picked. We picked our chinese cabbage and all had a try of it straight from our garden. The class all tried some with a lot of us enjoying it raw. We sent some home with certain people and they cooked it up for their families and they all liked it.

Planting our Strawberries
Today we mounded up some dirt and put some horse manure in it and covered it with black polythene. We then planted 5 strawberry plants into the polythene. We used the polythene to help keep the strawberries off the soil and to give them extra warmth in the ground. This will hopefully help them grow better.

Planting seeds in Room 4
In Room4 we planted corn and peas into seed trays using Tui seed raising mix We received in our prize pack. We also planted some chilli and cherry-tomato seeds. we have put them in the window of our classroom where they will hopefully get lots of sunlight. We put our initials on our pottles to have a competition to see whose comes up 1st.
Today in Room 4 we planned out what we were going to put in our garden. We investigated what plants grew best together, this is called Companion planting We then followed our plan and planted broccoli, lettuces, onions, cauliflower, Pak choi. We used milk and fizzy drink bottles cut in half and placed them over our plants. We did this to protect the plants from frost and birds.
